Creating an Adoption Plan for an Unplanned Pregnancy in Florida

Adoption Choices of Florida is a non-profit private adoption agency that is located in Florida. With multiple locations in Florida, that being JacksonvilleMiamiPanhandle, and Tampa, we want to connect with local birth mothers seeking to place their newborn up for adoption

Our goal during the process is to make you feel safe and loved during the process. We want to build families while ending the stigma surrounding adoption and helping you prosper simultaneously. We understand before the process of your adoption begins, you have multiple questions pertaining to requirements you need to meet, different forms of adoption, and more. At Adoption Choices of Florida, we make sure to answer every question of yours.

Do I have to have my parent’s consent to put my baby up for adoption if I am a teen?

No. When you are considering putting your baby up for adoption, you will not need any authorization from anyone. Regarding the adoption process, the only person that needs to decide and give permission to any necessary answers is you as the birth mother.

Even if you are a teen, we understand you are young and don’t know much about adoption. A person can be in their 30’s or older and have no understanding of adoption so never let your age discourage you. When you come to Adoption Choices of Florida, we make sure you understand everything thoroughly. Any question you have can be answered through our website if it is broad. Or, if you have a delicate and specific question, you can definitely ask your caseworker or even call or text us. Our goal is to make you feel safe and secure in your decisions and during the process because that is what is most important for yourself and the baby you are carrying. As said before, you will not need any permission from anyone when it comes to adoption. Every decision is precisely up to you.

Never let such a notion bother you because we will clear that worry right away.

What do I have to provide while placing my baby up for adoption?

When you decide to utilize our services, we only need the basic information pertaining to your life in order to include it in our file. But, before moving forward without services with you, we need validation that we are pregnant. That is a requirement of ours for the sake of saving time and making sure we can begin the process. We aren’t saying we need to go to the doctors with you and watch you while you complete a pregnancy test. Proof of pregnancy will be a photo of your sonogram, which we need a hard copy of. Of course, we won’t keep it, but give it to your caseworker, who will then document your pregnancy down.

We are not saying we don’t believe you, but based on cases around the world that happen every day, it is better that we be sure of your pregnancy. But, from that point on, you don’t have any requirements other than staying healthy and keeping up with doctor’s appointments. To add on, you need to make sure to communicate with your caseworker in order for the process to keep going smoothly. When you decide to come to us, we will make clear what is required from you at the beginning so we will not place so much on you. We will give you time to provide us with such documents we need to record!

Does the father of my child have rights if I have a restraining order against him?

If you are unsafe in any sort of way and currently feel unsafe, we can help you. Your safety is everything, and in the state of Florida, the birth father of your unborn child does have rights. However, those rights can be expelled through court orders. With your restraining order, we have documentation proving that you and your child are unsafe, which then causes him not to be validated in the adoption process

When it comes to the court, we can help you with the expenses and attend such dates. No one deserves to be abused, and if you are facing such or have removed yourself from it and are still suffering mentally, we have counselors available that can assist you. To add on, if you are in a domestic violence relationship, tell us as soon as possible, and we will help you. You are our family, and we want you safe and to prosper in life.
