Choosing Adoption After You’ve Been Sexually Assaulted in Florida
Choosing Adoption After You’ve Been Sexually Assaulted in Florida
The holiday season has begun, and it can be a difficult time for birth mothers. The holidays are a time of joy and love, and for birth mothers, this can cause the emotions they are feeling with their adoption to elevate. It is not uncommon for you to feel immense sadness and grief during the holiday season after going through your adoption in Florida or if you are even still going through your baby adoption process. At Adoption Choices of Florida, we are still here to aid you and support you during this holiday season as a birth mother. Our offices are open through the holiday season, and we can help you find other resources.
It is important that you take care of your mental health during this holiday season. If you need to talk at any time, our counseling services are open to you. You can schedule an appointment when you feel like you need to talk. There are other options available to you as well if you need more than our counseling. One of these options is post-placement counseling.
With post-placement counseling, you will meet with a professional counselor who has experience working with birth mothers who have gone through or are going through the same thing you are. They can help you work through the feeling that you are experiencing. Now there is a chance that counseling does not help you too much or you need more, and there is nothing wrong with that, especially at this time of year.
One of the other options available to you are birth mother support groups. If there is anyone that can fully understand the feelings you are going through and how to work through them, it’s other birth mothers. These support groups are designed to help you and other birth mothers work through their emotions and help you get back to a normal life. A birth mother support group can be very special during the holiday season. A support group can feel special to you because the group is there for you, and you will not feel alone. The holidays are never an easy time for birth mothers, and your feelings are hard to work through on your own. A birth mother support group understands what you are going through because the other birth mothers in that group have gone through it too.
Your mental health is very important in general and to us here at Adoption Choices of Florida. Do not be afraid to ask for assistance when trying to work through these feelings you are dealing with. You have people in your life who want to help you and are willing to help, whether it is friends or family, us, your post-placement counselor, or your birth mother support group. It is better to talk about these feelings with others and work through them rather than keeping them inside and trying to hide them. When it comes to working through these feelings during the holiday season, it is important to know that one of these resources might not get the job done, and that is okay. Everybody is different. All they need is post-placement counseling or just attending a birth mother support group for some birth mothers. It is okay if you are not one of these birth mothers. Many birth mothers go to post-placement counseling and have a birth mother support group they meet with. There is nothing wrong with having to use multiple resources to work through these feelings you are dealing with. You know what is best for you. We are here to aid you in working through your feelings and finding other resources to help you as well.
Remember this holiday season that you are not alone. We are here for you at Adoption Choices of Florida, and the doors are open in our adoption agency near you throughout the holiday season. Whether you need to talk with one of our counselors, need help finding a post-placement counselor or birth mother support group, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help and support you however we can. You do not have to work through these feelings alone; you have a voice, so do not be afraid to use it!
