What is a Florida Adoption Plan, and How Do I Get Started?

If you are thinking about placing your baby for adoption, we can help you. At Adoption Choices of Florida, we help you navigate your entire adoption journey. We guide you through the entire process to minimize your stress and ensure that you are not alone during this difficult time. The first step in your adoption journey is to contact us at one of our four offices via phone, our website, or chat. After you make initial contact, we will begin your Floradoption plan.

What is a Florida Adoption Plan?

An adoption plan is a plan for your adoption. Your specific Florida adoption plan will consist of information like what type of adoption you would like, who you want to adopt your baby, and creating a financial assistance plan. The goal of an adoption plan is to make you feel more confident during this process and ensure that all of your needs are met.

There are a few things you should consider when creating your adoption plan, such as the type of relationship you want with your child’s adoptive parents, what kind of support you will need, what kind of parents you want your child to have, and who you want present during your labor and delivery. You will also have to choose what kind of Tampa adoption you would like. The three most common types of adoption are open, semi-open, or closed.

Open adoptions include open communication between you and the adoptive parents. Both parties will exchange personal contact information like phone numbers, emails, addresses, and/or social media accounts. The level of openness you and the adoptive parents have is entirely up to both of you. Some birth mothers and adoptive parents arrange regular phone calls and updates, while others arrange annual visits.

In a semi-open adoption, all contact between you and the adoptive parents is mediated through one of our secure websites. You can still receive periodic updates about the child’s development or photographs, but this information will only be disseminated through a third party.

There is no communication between you and the adoptive parents in a closed adoption. The only information your child and their adoptive parents will receive about you is your medical history; all other information about you is sealed.

You have the power to choose your child’s adoptive parents regardless of the type of adoption you select. When you are deciding which family to choose, you should think about what kind of family you want your child to grow up in; do you want the family to have pets; do you want your child to have siblings; what kind of values does the family have? You should ask yourself all of these questions and more when choosing your child’s adoptive family.

What Are the Next Steps of My Florida Adoption Plan?

Once you have picked the kind of adoption you want and who your child’s parents will be, our next goal is to guarantee that you have everything you need financially. Our baby adoption agencies throughout Florida provide financial assistance to all our birth mothers if they need it. We help with rent, transportation, groceries, and other pregnancy-related expenses. Though you aren’t compensated for placing your baby for adoption, we do guarantee, to the best of our ability, that all of your financial needs are met. Pregnancy is hard enough without your having to worry about food or shelter, which is why we try to mitigate any additional stressors you may encounter.

Regardless of where you are in your pregnancy, it is never too late to start thinking about what’s best for your child. We understand that making the decision to place your child for adoption is a difficult one, which is why we try so hard to alleviate as much stress as we can. If you are serious about adoption or if you just have questions and are unsure of where to start, don’t hesitate to contact us at Adoption Choices of Florida. We’re always here to help you with all of your adoption needs.
